A fine and rare 2 ¾’’ and 3’’ Hardy Perfect Brass Transitional fly reel with ivory handle, waisted foot, strapped rim tension screw and early calliper spring check mechanism and open ball race with phosphor bronze bearings, dished drum with central ventilated hollow spindle core and large and small ventilation ports to front flange, faceplate stamped central 612 patent details and Rod in Hand trade mark, transitional models with brass back rim joined to face by three nickel silver pillars showing through back rim, circa 1893.
