One of the rarest of all Edward Vom Hofe Salmon reels is this circa 1926 model 496 Griswold 4/0 size 3:1 ratio multiplying handmade german silver and hard rubber reel. The production of this reel was very short lived (1925-1928). The reel was designed for Frank Gray Griswold, the author of “Observations on a salmon river”, a book that he did on a Grand Cascapedia river.
